JACKSON, Tenn. — April 23, 2026 — Project Uplift, a nonprofit organization supporting Lane College students and recent alumni in West Tennessee, has delivered scholarships directly to students at a critical point in the academic year—providing timely financial support as students prepare for final exams and graduation.
Project Uplift delivered $1,000 in scholarships to two Lane College students, fulfilling commitments made earlier in the academic year and providing critical support as students navigate end-of-year expenses.
For recipients, the impact was both practical and immediate.
“The scholarship I received from Project Uplift allowed me to purchase a new computer and reduce my college balance. It made a real difference this semester.”
“The scholarship helped me purchase my graduation stole and reduce my student loans at a critical moment as I prepare to graduate.”
While modest in size, the timing of the support proved significant for students working to complete the academic year and prepare for what comes next.
“Timing matters,” said Rob Evans, Executive Director of Project Uplift. “Support doesn’t just need to exist—it needs to show up when it can actually change outcomes for students.”
In addition to financial assistance, Project Uplift connects students to mentorship and career readiness resources, helping bridge the transition from college to workforce.
“Our goal is not only to help students stay enrolled,” Evans said. “It’s to ensure they are prepared for what comes next.”
Project Uplift will announce its next round of scholarship recipients on June 1, awarding at least six scholarships totaling $6,000 or more.
